Gotta love more government buerocracy! I am a Sprinklerfitter and have previously worked in Washington for many years in the past. Now the State Fire Marshall requires a "certificate of compentency" before I can turn wrenches in your state. I guess 23 years of experience has no bearing! There was a grandfather clause, but I guess it expired while I was working in Alaska. I spent 3 weeks waiting for previous employers to send me statements of hours worked in the field, only to now find out the Fire Marshalls office won't accept this before I can take my exam in Olympia. I love it when someone tells you that you can't go to work until you meet their new mandates imposed. Tax dollars at work...I've only been out of work for almost 2 years, what's another 2 weeks eh? _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

It's always a comforting feeling knowing that a bureaucracy is here to keep us safe.
Hope it all works out for you. |

Ya...I don't know how I ever managed to survive in my field of expertise with only this "Journeyman" card in my wallet. _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

Update...Total change of plans! Last week,I received a call from a previous employer here at home and they asked if I could start on the 23rd of May. Of coarse,I said YES!!! (2 years sittin on the bench on unenjoyment). I will be able to stay home now for the forseable future and will not be relocating to the Spokane area. I appreciate the welcome that I have received from RCVW members and look forward to having an opportunity of meeting some of you in the future. Thanks guys! _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

Glad things worked out for you. Maybe we'll run into you at one of the shows in WA. Yakima in September and Tri-Cities in October. Both shows are great fun, and there is usually a large contingent from this area that makes the trek. |

Greetings update...
Well its been 2 years since I thought I was moving up there.
The job market has not improved here in Southern Oregon during this period and as a result, I have had to sell-off the fleet.
Fortunately, I have a job interview with an outfit in Spokane Valley on 6/20 and have decided to focus on Spokane again as im pretty much hired when i show up.
Although I no longer have my Singlecab and Oval, I still look forward to meeting-up in the future as a spectator of sorts, till I make my next acquisition of another acvw in the future.
South Hill looks like the geographical area I am interested in for starters.
See ya around folks! _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

Just finished my 1200+ mile round-trip for the job interview.
Looks like a July (ish) start date up there!
Got a chance to get familiar with some of the neighborhoods by driving around and was REALLY impressed with Manito/Cannon Hill...just beautiful!!! _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |
