Hello,I am a VW enthusiast who currently resides in Southern Oregon and am a member of my home club;SOVW. I have recently learned that I will be traveling for work up in your area and thought I would give a shout-out. I got back into VW`s last year after about a 20 year stint and haven't looked back! I currently drive and work on a`56 Oval and a`64 Singlecab. I'm not quite sure right now if I will be actually pulling up stakes to move or be traveling all over western Montana and northern Idaho for work. Anyhow,if there is an opportunity to hook-up with you guys,I definately will! Peace,Thomas; aka "Sizzlean" _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

UPDATE...Looks like I will be a new resident of Spokane in the near future. Ill be looking for a rental of sorts, and as I am not familiar with the town, perhaps I could get a list of communities to steer clear of (crime rate and all). Ill be looking for a minimum 2 car garage, or ideally a shop, to store and wrench on my VW's. I appreciate any light you guys/gals might be able to shed. Lookin forward to meeting other enthusiasts once I get up there. Thanks in advance. _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

"communities to steer clear of" = Spokane! Seriously though, welcome and there are nice areas all over Spokane. I find this place a bit confusing because I have never been anywhere with so much overlap of crappy neighborhoods/houses with better neighborhoods/houses. That being said, northern areas like 5 mile, 7 mile, parts of the south hill and the valley all have reasonable areas. I bet other can chime in and give better then that, but it's a start when you start looking. |

I have no advice about Spokane, but if you find yourself in Sandpoint during your travels, feel free to look me up. Always happy to talk VW's. |

We lived in Medford, Oregon about 11 years ago, nice area, was too expensive for us.
I daily drive a '64 Single Cab, will be good to see another in town. |

I sincerely appreciate the info and warm welcome from you guys! Looking forward to this next chapter in my life. Although I never thought I would live this far north, there seems to be a comfort in the idea that ill be meeting some pretty cool enthusiasts up there. The fact that ill be back to work after almost 2 years of layoff, doesn't hurt either! My folks live out in Reardon, and ill most likely be staying there, while I scout my new home. Obviously being 40 years of age,I won't want to stay with the folks too long! I was going to sell the singlecab before I relocated but wisdom got the best of me! Longroof...what's the DOM on yours? Mine is 12/9/63. _________________ ...my ambitions are only exceeded by a lack of money, tools and experience... |

Good thing about us here in Spokane, we are all spread out like me shooting at a target, scattered. There's a couple on the north side, south side and the valley folks. So where ever you end up there will be cars and beers not far oft. |

Our '64 truck is Sept '63 if I remember (missing Mcode plate), ice pick handles, 1500 left air cleaner mount, Turkis original paint. |
