Greetings fellow VW lovers! My name is Karen Tuininga and I am the organizer for a new event in uptown Hillyard (Spokane, WA) called the Hillyard Hippie Happening, aka 'Hoodstock. We are looking for a small number of vintage VWs to display during this one day event.
It takes place Saturday, 9/11/10, from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on the Market St. side streets of Queen and Olympic at the heart of the Historic Hillyard Business District.
I have lined up a live band, belly dancers, Janis Joplin impersonator, a Jimi Hendrix impersonator, 2 Old Hippies on Drums, Kiwanis Childrens' Midway, raffles, contests, a BuNcH of vendors and more!
I guess that we're all aware of the love affair between Hippies and Volkswagons, so we would like to have bugs and vans to show between the years of 1960 and 1973 to add to the atmosphere. We would also like to have "Volkswagon Van Cram" contests as a fund raiser.
We have Reverend Foggy to do marriage vow renewals and would LoVe to have a psychedelic van or bug as a backdrop.
What's in it for you? Not so much, really, except that you will be having a GrEaT time and get to show off your VW.

BUMMER! The Hendrix impersonator will be at the Big Sky around 8:00 P.M. Maybe you could stop by for that?

Might be able to make this if my leg is holding up, wont have to work due to some surgery on my knee.
Kurt is someone I know from work, I figured there can't be that many people with your last name. |
