I decided to try and get the "Love Bug" to the show...so, I'm in the process of transferring good parts from a locked up 1600 to a worn-out 1600 that runs! Spent most of the day cleaning out all the rat poop, mud, walnut shells (from the mice) and old oil chunks from the tin and block. Start re-assembly tomorrow....hopefully have it back in and running by nightfall to take it to Medical Lake Founder's day car show....pics to follow.

Yeah, your bus sounds pretty good Ryan! Sounds like a deeper tone than the other engine...maybe it's just me. Soon after you left, I got Jessica's engine running on the stand. Need to adjust valves on 1 and 2 again...ticking a little....or it could be all the carbon breaking free!. I'll be putting it back in after work tomorrow. Might do my traditional "drive around the block with no brakes" but thats only fun after midnight!

I just got done wrapping up most of the wiring with loom. Something I should have done a long time ago. I took my rig to the General Store car show yesterday, and got lots of compliments on it's "uniqueness". I was going to wash it, since it's still dirty from the last time out wheeling, but everyone said it looks better dirty. Can't wait for the show! BTW, anybody come up with anything for me to crush? _________________ If it can't be done, I can prove them wrong! |

I'm still here, Engine in...rear brakes done. Started on fronts tonight, and had to change tank to fuel tube hose. Apparently, when the previous owners decided to sell the bug, they filled up the gas tank. People....if your engine don't crank and it's seized...you don't fill "UP" the freakin' tank!! Anyways...got that sorted out....need to either rebuild wheel cylinders, or find some locally tomorrow.
