I took the supports off and wire wheeled and sanded them down to bare metal and then repainted. I was really surprised to find on the top round supports the VW logo stamp! Couldn't get that in a picture but thought it was pretty cool so here is the finished product. I can't seem to be able to get the new grommets seated even with soap and a putty knife. Ideas? Rear bumper next.

Yea, they stamped everything. The ones I like to clean to see the stamp is the heater hose clamp that connects to the heater boxes, they are always coated in shiat.
Those seals can be a turd, just keep working at them, maybe a small flat head screw driver?
