I have a leak on my axle retaining plat. It's leaking from at least one of the spot welds on the surface (see pic).
Anybody have any suggestions on a fix? I'm hoping I won't have to drop the trans to fix it.

if it's truly from a spot weld....that sux.
You can do it with the trans still in, it's just a PITA. pull the tube etc, leave the axle in, once the tube is off, you can unbolt it, just make sure you don't get dirt etc inside it.
Make sure you use new gaskets and check for binding as stated below. |

Well, it's most likely the O ring that failed. Whoda thunk the retaining plate was actually TWO pieces, not one.
Looks like I'll get to drop the tranny. |

try it with it still in the car first. When I was stationed in England, I replaced a broken axle in the barracks parking lot over a weekend. you'll be doing just about the same thing, just not the axle/fulcrums/clip. |
