I just pulled the deflated back wheels off of my bug, and the tread pretty much pealed off. I need to replace them, so i am looking for some gently used tires and possibly smaller wheels. The tires are 165 sr15 and I am guessing that the wheels are 15 in. (that might seem like a dumb question but I am tire illiterate) I would like to go to 14's for a lower profile look. Any suggestions?

| You could just run lower profile tires on the 15" wheels. |

| Well depends on the width of the tires, then you have width issues of the beam. Unfortunately I am not an expert but if you check the samba for good tire information. |

Suspension setup will play a great role in tire size... Too small of a tire at stock height will look terrible.
Adjustable beam and dropped spindles on the front - a 145 or 135 looks good with a 165 or 185/65 in the rear (and these sizes can be used with stock wheels or the usual aftermarket 5-5.5" wide wheels).
I run my Beetles with 145/65R15 front tires and 195/60R15 rears. But I usually run 5-6" narrowed beams and 1-2 outer splines down in the rear. |
