I am restoring my first VW and what a neat car. The pan is out getting sandblasted as we speak. I am trying to make it as stock as possible.
My question is this what is the difference if any between a 1964 brake backing plate and that of a 1966? I can not find 64's anywhere, only 1966 and up.
Any advice would be appreciated. |

On the front, 64 is link pin and 66 is ball joint, so the backing plates are different because of that, I think rears are pretty much all the same since I remember putting late model 4 bolt backing plates on an old car so I could adjust the brakes from the backside.
If you need some, someone here will have them. |

Thanks for the info when the time comes I will seek out those parts. If all else fails do you see any reason why I could not build the brakes as 66's |

66 has different wheel cylinders and shoes, the backing plate should be the same though. _________________ TROY
