It looks like my timing is good.
I hadn't stopped though here in a while, and never could make meetings as
I work Wednesday nights.
And if a project is needed, boy-ee-o, do I have one. Belt broke on the highway
last summer and cooked the engine on my `71 Super.
Got a pair of heads from RichM in Hayden, but she's been gathering dust in my
garage since August 08.
Too much of a project? Likely, but would like to check out the Friday night gathering
anyway, just to learn a bit more before I just chuck the whole Bug thing.
PM outbound... _________________

Sure, but let's not write that list on paper. I'm trying to be Earth-conscious. That would waste A LOT of trees....
I'll be there. |

Ok, so I drove to where I thought it should be, and apparently didn't know where it was. I found a house on Idaho street that had a beat up bug and Range Rover of some sort by it, but I didn't think it was it because I expected more VW's. My wife couldn't believe how persistent I was, I even asked a guy playing basketball on the next street over what the last actual street in Washington was. Anyway, sorry I missed it. On the plus side, my wife said if you want to ride a Harley, you can take hers for a spin Steve. |

It's on Irrigon.
So, I just wanted to say it was nice meeting you Aaron (if you're even here, who are you?). You seem really cool.
THANK YOU, STEVE, TROY, & JIM!!
I truly appreciate any and all help I can get. I am definitely looking forward to the next class. I'll make sure to have some parts ready.
I may just have to have a BBQ at my place here soon to thank everyone that's been helping me out and give people an excuse to come over, eat good food, drink beer, and BS. |

Hey!
You remembered, and you even spelled it right!
It was good meeting you Jen, and seeing you again Steve.
One thing I was a little unclear on was your preference. Was it Bosch or NAPA?
Oh, yeah, and thanks for the tip on keeping a rag under the hood for cleanups
and the like.
Seriously though, I appreciate your expertise, man do you know your shit.
And your wife was the coolest, warm cookies, straight from the oven?
Tell her I said thanks, they were great.
I hope that driver's side door thing isn't too bad, and get those ball-joints, Jen... _________________

My Bug was out front for maybe 5 minutes...lol. Then it got put into the garage to get a good look over.
The easiest way for me to remember where it is is by thinking, "It's the one right next to the house with all of the crap on it."
Lol. You'll know what I mean if you make it there next time.
Aaron, Steve's preference in parts, I believe, is the great quality one should expect of products made in the good ol' U. S. of A.....
but since those suck, I think he goes for Bosch.
And ball joints are definitely on my agenda to obtain today. |

I would love to have a class at my house in the future. Right now I'm rebuilding a 69 wiper unit once the parts show up at the house.
I'm also in the process of doing a garage auto paint job if any one is interested. My poor neighbors! I bought a HVLP painting unit from Harbor Freight(HF) for $89. Here is the thread on Samba that I have been following on this subject:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=174540
If I'm very successful I would love to pass on what I know!
I would hate to see all of our had work keep rusting away!
Here is a great link on rust prevention: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=131753
It is a really good read! _________________ 69' Beetle CA Look 1500SP

I'm down for a sudnay night sometime. Maybe at my shop? Much easier to do things on hoists, and with enoguh people, we can push whatever's on the racks, off.....plus.....I might have parts.
I would love to show people the basic maintenace stuff, becuase paying someone like me to it, is just stupid. |

Actually, if we all do it at the shop, it doesn't even have to be a sunday! Plus I have a grill. |

Ok, so what did you all decide to do? I have some projects I need to work on or at least get advice on. Changing out the stop plate, replacing dog legs, replacing a side window(the tip out part), I could go on for sure. |

Stop plate? Is that the thing that keeps the pedals from going too far towards you?
Dog leg? What the xxxx is that that?
