|
|
Well I finally got a chance last week to go down to Walla Walla and get Rocky and his son Micky to help me build my throttle bodies and modify my manifolds for the EFI conversion. Here is a link to a page on my site with more info....

If all goes well, I should have it running in my garage before the snow is down enough to trailer it to the college and start the dyno tuning.

Of course you're going to invite us down when it goes on the rollers right?
And of course, you're going to let me bring mine as well so I can finally get mine tuned! I WILL break into the 12's in street trim damit! |

Okay, I am even a little bit closer.
Here is a video of me starting it and free reving to about 8,000 rpms.

(This is the first time I used the dollar store tripod!)
I still need to do a little more work before I get some dyno pulls.
By the way, you can see the snow flakes blowing into the shop!

I saw your little beast in the shop last week...you know, while I was organizing my tools.
It's pretty cool to hear it on the dyno.
I want to put mine on it just to see what I'm starting out with. :p |

That is a work of art!!! What software/computer are using to run the EFI? Mega Squirt or ????
I think those intakes are amazing. I'm looking at getting mine from CP performance.

Have you seen these before? Not as big as yours. _________________ 69' Beetle CA Look 1500SP

Are you planning on bring your work of art to the Bugfair this year? I would love a show and tell! _________________ 69' Beetle CA Look 1500SP

I hope to. I have been soooo busy with work and life in general, I haven't been able to get back to working on it again, but I hope to be done with it before then. Perhaps with a little luck even make it to the track?

WOW! What a system! I've only been working on Bosch EFI and researched Mega Squirts. This system you have I think is a little more advanced then what I'm use to seeing.
Very nice I can't wait to look at it and prod you with lots of questions!
Thanks Jeff! _________________ 69' Beetle CA Look 1500SP

Maybe I'll be able to put together a special VW dyno day... I will see what I can do.

Finally got a chance this past weekend to strap it down on the dyno and do some more tuning.
Here is a video.... Click here for video
As you can tell, I did my tuning in third gear. Also, I did the pull from 4,000 to 7,500rpms.
I have the air fuel ratio where I want it and the timing too. Only problem is that the HP is down from when it had carbs, so first I am going to lengthen the runners and if that doesn't bring it back, I may have gone too big on the diameter! Oh well, once I hook the nitrous back up, I can make up for it!
If all goes well, I should have it ready to take to the track sometime next month!
