Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get rid of some old glue that is left over from my cheap carpet being ripped out? I have been using razor blades, but I am breaking them like crazy. The caroet was gone when I bought it, but they did leave the glue however.

I have only had my 66' for two months and I would serious like to slap the person who had it prior for all the off the wall corky things they had done. The things people do make no sense nor do they have respect for the VW.

depends on the glue and how thick. In the past, i've used a acetone soaked rag, and let it sit on the glue for a bit, softens it up enough to scrape off.

Well....you must have stayed in the car with the windows rolled up, I got it figured out now..... Wink You know I mess with ya cause I like ya.....never anything negative intended Jim, just having some fun..... Very Happy

On topic now, I don't know what tools you have available to you but a red 3M scotch pad on a die grinder will knock dried glue right off. Then just repaint with bomb can....Good luck and remember these things are fun !!!!

I will give the acetone a try. It is a yellow colored glue and in some places it is a light brown. It is a pain in the rear to scrape off, I am going through razor blades like crazy!

It is more than likely just contact cement.

Acetone is harsh as I am sure you know, take proper steps for ventilation !!!
