I started rooting around my car today and found some...interesting things.
So, I busted out the camera and decided to ask for help. Keep in mind that I am entirely new to the wonderful world of VW...so I'm going to ask a lot of dumb questions.
What makes things even more difficult is that I'm not sure what's original and what was placed there by the Einstein that had it before I did. Oh, and almost none of it works.
I want to know what most of it is supposed to do before I go tearing into things and ruin something.
Anyway, check out these pics and let me know what you think, please.

First, what does the switch by the fuses do? I flipped it and noticed no difference.
Second, what in the Hell is going on with all of the wiring under the bonnet? Half of it dead ends...lots of loose bare wire. Please tell me they don't all look like this.
I have a crap ton more questions and welcome any and all comments/advice.
I just have to say, to the car's credit, it runs very well. I've driven it around the last couple of days and am quite happy with the result. I still truly believe that it's going to be lots of fun. |

It might be for the rear window defogger. If you can catch me tomorrow, I will take a quick look.

They're not supposed to look like that, but too many do!

Thank you, Jim! Too bad the freaking harness is out of stock.
I looked at a universal wire only kit from Painless.....
Ugh $500.00 for a kit I have to modify is a bit too much for me.
Any ideas who else might have one of those?
Jeff, I'll drive it to school tomorrow so you canget up close and personal with it. :p
Thanks, again! |

Hey, let's play a drinking game. How many things can you find wrong in the picture of the engine? I have 5.
On another subject, I have somebody's cool LED flashlight. |

I'm not so sure that's a good idea...
Someone may end up with alcohol poisoning. |

What do you want to consider "wrong" I see household wirenuts on the wiring, I guess that must be for the microwave in the back seat.....
Just giving ya a hard time.... I have seen much worse and it just gives ya something to play with and work on.... _________________ Mr. B
