All, as some of you know, I have been working with the County on the Technical Advisory Committee for Spokane Raceway Park.
This Tuesday, March 18 will be a day that makes history, please, if you can and are able, please plan on attending the meeting below. This is everyones last opportunity to have your voices heard, the County Commisioners are not 100% of the way there, we need to give them that last little push.
Please tell your friends, family whoever, to show up early and fill the meeting room with the support we need.
Remember, Race Tracks go away, they never come back.
News Release
SPOKANE, March 11, 2008 – The Spokane County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) is planning a meeting to hear public testimony on what role, if any, the County should play in the future of Spokane Raceway Park (SRP). The meeting will be held Tuesday, March 18 at the Fair and Expo Center. Don Schumacher, a consultant with DSA Sports will present the results of a feasibility study that was conducted at the request of the BOCC. The feasibility study is also available at www.spokanecounty.org/parks.
Spokane Raceway Park is a 198-acre site located on the West Plains of Spokane County. The facility includes a half-mile oval track, a quarter-mile drag strip and a 2.5-mile road course used by sports cars, motorcycles, go-karts and bicycle racing. SRP is presently controlled by court-appointed receiver Barry W. Davidson. The facility, along with 12 other parcels, will be sold to the highest bidders at a public auction on Thursday, April 10, 2008.
The Board of County Commissioners created the “Spokane Raceway Park Technical Advisory Committee” (TAC) in August of 2007. The 15 committee members met several times over a five month period to complete a two-fold task:
- Assist staff in selecting private consultants to examine the viability and economic feasibility of the Spokane Raceway Park.
- Provide background information and technical data to assist the consultants in completion of the feasibility study.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and present testimony/comment on the future of Spokane Raceway Park.
