|
|
Just picked up my new project this weekend - '57 oval on '70 IRS chassis. I have misplaced my camera, so no photos yet, hopefully I'll find it tomorrow.
Yet to look deeper under the skin, but I'll be starting with the chassis/suspension. It doesn't look to be touched in any significant way from stock, 4-bolt drums on all four corners. My ideal final outcome would be:
FRONT:
- narrowed beam, 2 inches (anyone has advice on if i need to narrow it 4 inches? I'm not planning on running some extreme rims, i just like the narrowed look and like having options on the rims)...
- lowered spindles
- sway-away adjusters for further height adjustment
- disc brakes
The shock towers look to have a couple of small rusty cracks in them - not sure if that's repairable or not just yet, so I may be forced to get another beam either way....
REAR:
- adjustable height spring-plates (or if too expensive - just turned a notch)
- disc brakes
If anyone has any parts/etc that might assist with the above, and wants to get rid of them - let me know.
Advice is also always appreciated

Drop spindles will push the wheels out almost an inch on each side (depending on who makes them).
Figure out your wheel's first, once you have it figured out, determine your beam width.

I need to go pick up the pan from my buddy's garage tonight, so I don't think I'll be able to make pizza...
I'd be definitely interested in looking at the narrowed beam and the drop spindles.
Let me know what time you're meeting - maybe I'll be able to swing past on my way to pick up the pan - what time is it?

It was great meeting up last night, I'll be trying to stop by any tuesday I can....
Got the pan home last night. The IRS bits at the back look fine, but the shock at the front towers have a number of rust holes in them, so I guess I'm looking for a new beam.
Ideally - I want 2inch narrowed, with avis adjusters welded in. Alternatively - a beam that some (or none) of the above has been done to, so I can have it altered.
If anyone has anything that fits that description - let me know.

He may not want that beam, he uses the stock struts, and that one looks toasted.
