muffler questions for a type 1

I just bought a 65 bug recently, it has a header on t he original 40 horse motor, but the flange to bolt the muffler on, is rusted off. Id like to go with a stock muffler system. The question is....what will interchange with the 1200cc? Will a muffler from a 1600 fit? Ive looked through some of my catologs, and I really have a hard time spending $100 plus shipping for a muffler. I would be willing to go used if I knew what the would fit. the car is a beater, and I still havent gotten any paper work on it, but I love to tinker with it, but Im sure the nieghbors dont appreciate my loud unmuffled VW.

In addition to the muffler issue, Im also looking for a pair of 65-67 Low back buckets for the front...it has later VW buckets in it now, Id like to go back to original, if anyone has any laying around...thanks guys
